The Controls - One Hundred (1999)

Since we're on an R&B tip for the moment, just thought I'd hit this blog with another "real" banger (big ups, Hook1, for the Venus Malone).

Wayback in '99, one of my homies told me about this album and it's the first time I heard Aesop Rock (I believe this is his very first appearance, before he got signed).

Not sure what to categorize this, but it's some deep Electro-Down tempo-Neo soul-rhythmic steez, glazed with a smooth Hip-Hop flavor.

Vocals by Ann Colville, beats by Dub-L, scratches by DJ JS-One and Mattimal, and the Bazooka Tooth himself burstin' on the radar with this cameo appearance, check it out y'all:
